VE Day Official Proclamation Reading and two-minute silence

The community of Shepshed will come together this week to honour our veterans at two important commemorative events in Shepshed and Coalville.

Thursday 8th May – Shepshed War Memorial Location: Shepshed War Memorial 08:45 AM – Arrival 09:00 AM – Official proclamation reading and two-minute silence Following the commemoration, attendees will disperse. Organised by Chris Penrose

Sunday 11th May – 80th VE Day Veteran Parade and Service Location: Coalville Clock Tower Arrive by 10:00 AM Service begins at 10:30 AM Organised and supported by the newly formed Coalville and District Veterans Association

These events serve as a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices made by our veterans. The proclamation reading will be delivered by Royal Navy veteran Chris Penrose, who proudly served from 1979 to 2002. Chris has played a significant role in supporting the RBL Poppy Appeal and recently raised funds for The Great Tommy Sleep Out in March.

We invite all residents, veterans, and supporters to join us in remembering and paying tribute to those who have served.
